Coaching Information

Recreation soccer is the cornerstone of our soccer club. That’s where it all started way back in 1973. There is no travel soccer, high school soccer, or college soccer without a strong recreation program to start with. We have always been blessed with parents who have volunteered their time to coach our recreation teams. You can volunteer to coach when you register your child. There is a section on the registration form to do so.
There are 3 certifications required to coach all youth sports in NJ. If you do not yet have them or want to be a new coach in our upcoming Spring Soccer session information to obtain them is below:

The Township of Denville requires all coaches to complete a Rutgers Coach Certification Class in order to remain eligible to coach. The Township of Denville also requires all coaches to submit to a fingerprint background check once every 3 years in order to remain eligible to coach. The State of NJ is now requiring the completion of a concussion awareness online course for all recreation and travel coaches.

Rutgers Certification

Rutgers S.A.F.E.T.Y Clinic – This is run by the Denville Recreation Dept. HUB Soccer will pay for your class. Notify the Recreation Director that you are a HUB Soccer coach and he will bill us.  To register email the Rec Director at recreation@denvillenj.org. Background Checks

The Township of Denville requires all Volunteer Youth Sports Coaches and Officials to submit to a fingerprint background check once every 3 years. The Township of Denville will reimburse you directly for this.

Concussion Certification

An online course that takes 15 to 20 minutes to complete. It is a lifetime certification and there is no cost.
