Although our fall soccer opening day is 80 days away, we are busy planning and organizing the fall season. On the “to-do” list is getting mentors signed up for the Challenger Division. Our first day is Saturday, 9/7/24. We need mentors to assist our Challenger players through a variety of activities and drills to have fun, get some exercise, and learn soccer basics, as well as do field setup and packing up at the end.

Last fall, we created an Assistant Challenger Division Director position to take mentor attendance, collate days of volunteering on MSXL for community service credit and give season end acknowledgement to your school’s principal. We need 1, preferably 2, so there is a backup high school mentor to handle this and assist in the mentor-player match up. If you are interested in being an ACDD, email us at info@hubsoccer.org and put your last name and ACDD in the subject line.

As of 6/19, we have 37 players and 10 mentors; more mentors are needed! Key FAQs and link to register are as follows:

* Do mentors have to be from a Denville school? No. We have mentors from local schools helping out, too.

* Are there limitations for mentors? Mentors are usually in grades 5 through high school. Younger siblings of mentors can help out as needed and gain experience to be a future mentor.

* Do mentors have to be at every session? No. We know the fall is a very busy time for students and families and that is why we need lots of mentors to ensure coverage every Saturday.

* Is there a benchmark for community service? No. Whether you attend one or all sessions, you are eligible for community service points. More details will follow once the season starts.
